ASSESS Group & Medhealth are subsidiaries of ExamWorks Group Inc, the world’s largest provider of expert medical opinions. Previously listed on NYSE (EXAM), now owned by private equity.

Engaged by SDS Pathology, a subsidiary of top 100 ASX listed Healius (formerly Primary Health Care Ltd) to undertake a market by market analysis of the pathology sector in Asia. This included understanding health care funding models in each geographic market, cost/profit drivers for pathology, competitive intelligence, regulatory issues for direct or indirect participation; and identification of greenfield, acquisition, and outsourcing opportunities. The role evolved to include project management of numerous strategic and operational projects involving Australian subsidiaries: Laverty Pathology, Dorevitch Pathology, QML Pathology, Western Diagnostic Pathology & Genomic Diagnostics.

Responsible for the overall performance of the business. Customer Care is a leading specialist emergency medical and travel assistance provider based in Australia and China. It is the largest emergency assistance provider for Australian corporate & leisure travel insurers servicing over two million travelers and expatriates, handling over 40,000 cases and performing in excess of 500 medical and security evacuations each year.

Overall management responsibility for the planning and delivery of medical services to more than 15,000 expatriate and contractors engaged on the US$16 billion PNG LNG construction project operated by Exxon Mobil Corporation on behalf of joint-venture partners Oil Search and Santos. This included provision of “inside the fence” services such as medical staffing, procurement, & medical assistance to Port Moresby as well as “outside the fence” consulting, medical assistance beyond Port Moresby, pandemic services and pre employment medicals.

Led a team of 310 staff including 46 expatriates. Grew revenues by 55% and EBITDA by 203% across three separate business units:Focused on high growth assistance business servicing leisure and business travelers via our Alarm centre in HCMC and global network of Alarm Centres. Increased utilisation of services including medivac activity to 20 per month generating average annual revenue growth of 26%. Rapidly grew medical services business delivering medical solutions to manufacturing, energy, mining, and infrastructure customers operating on remote sites or in difficult work environments. Increased number of sites from 8 to 26 increasing revenues by an average of 45% p.a.Managed mature clinics business with locations in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Vung Tau.

Numerous consulting engagements undertaken while completing my doctoral research. This included planning and coordinating all aspects of the inaugural Asia Pacific Business Forum for the International Trade & Investment Division of UNESCAP in conjunction with the National Development Reform Commission (NDRC), Government of China. The objective of the (now) annual forum being to forge closer ties between private and public sectors throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Diethelm merged to become Diethelm Keller Siber Hegner Ltd (DKSH). It is the largest healthcare services group in Asia providing sourcing, manufacturing, marketing, and distribution solutions to global brand name pharmaceutical and medical device principals such as Novartis, Janssen, Roche, and Eli Lilly. This role was based in Thailand and reported directly to CEO: responsibilities both strategic and commercial in nature.Directed new market development throughout the region. This ranged from developing and implementing entry strategies in new regional markets to identifying and evaluating potential brand acquisitions, licensing opportunities, alliances, and ad-hoc projects. Developed new and existing business with suppliers, sub-distributors, and major accounts. Targeted potential suppliers; evaluated their current marketing and distribution strategies and identified areas where Diethelm would add value. Monitored, challenged and provided feedback on all aspects of group performance, and evaluated future direction and most effective strategies. Analyzed operations and implemented processes to improve performance within underperforming business units and product lines.

Tasked with establishing a supply chain and distribution network to deliver in-country market expansion services for DKSH healthcare customers in regional emerging markets.Conducted feasibility studies; devised and implemented entry strategies in each country; negotiated approval of regulatory licenses as well as distribution agreements with principals and sub-distributors. Built close relationships with government bodies including health and trade ministries within each market. Established alliances to resolve currency and import restrictions to firmly position each subsidiary for long-term growth.
