About Gregory Kiar, Phd

Since completing my Ph.D. in Biological and Biomedical Engineering at McGill University, I have been working as a research scientist at the Child Mind Institute. Throughout my degrees in Biomedical Engineering (M.S.E: Johns Hopkins University; B.Eng: Carleton University), I have developed techniques to study biosignal data, turn-key tools that allow researchers to generate maps of brain connectivity from diffusion MRI data, and techniques to assess and improve the stability of research in neuroscience.My work ultimately seeks to inform decision making surrounding robust data collection, image processing, and biomarker discovery. I have considerable experience in computational statistics, uncertainty quantification, pipeline development, and machine learning.In addition to my research aims, I have participated in the organization of over a dozen "hackathon"-style events focused on training and collaboration, and taught several full-length courses at the university level. I regularly take on mentorship opportunities which are often geared towards teaching academic writing, fundamental computational skills, or research best practices.In addition to my research interests and focus described above, sports analytics are a hobby of mine. In particular, I enjoy exploring statistical relationships in Basketball and Football/Soccer.
