I am an experienced Denver-based immigration solo attorney providing counsel and representation in all aspects of immigration and nationality law issues before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), immigration courts, federal courts, Colorado state courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, Customs and Border Protection, and U.S. Consulates worldwide.

Service on the Board of Directors and Governance Committee for Montessori Del Mundo, a dual-language Montessori public charter school located in Aurora, Colorado. Montessori Del Mundo will opened its doors to its first students Fall, 2014.Montessori del Mundo follows the Montessori teaching philosophy and curriculum to provide students with a highly rigorous, developmentally focused, entirely individualized, 21st century education. Montessori del Mundo also implements a research-based Dual-Language model that has as its goal bilingualism and biliteracy for all students. Academic instruction is delivered in both Spanish and English with a focus on building students’ fluency in both languages to prepare them for the bilingual world and workplace of the future.

I focused on civil litigation in both state and federal court, with an emphasis in plaintiffs’ civil rights claims brought under the U.S. Constitution and 42 U.S.C. § 1983, special education, construction defect litigation, insurance defense, and appellate matters.

I focused on promoting and asserting human rights in the international context. Primarily, I assisted persons seeking political asylum (amoung other legal bases for asylum) in the United States, and I have particular expertise in refugee issues originating in sub-Saharan Africa and the Horn of Africa. I also have a specific interest in the complex issues surrounding global human trafficking and human smuggling.

I worked on a variety of complex trial and appellate matters, including work in the oil & gas, pharmaceutical, financial services, and health care industries.

During this time I was an associate attorney with the Real Estate and Lending group, though I split my time equally between that group, Litigation; Creditors Rights & Bankruptcy; and the Water, Energy Resources and Environmental Law, groups.
