In 2006 UK Sport and six British sports Universities (Bath, Durham, Loughborough, Northumbria, Stirling and Cardiff Met) developed a project that now forms part of UK Sports International Development Through Excellence and Leadership in Sport (IDEALS) project.Co-operating with Sport in Action and EduSport peer leaders in Zambia, we worked in some of the most deprived areas of the capital, Lusaka. Part of our function was to contribute in delivering sports activities and HIV/Aids (Kicking Aids Out) education programme. As student leaders we organised and ran a wide range of sporting activities, physical education lessons, workshops and life skills sessions using donated sporting equipment from the UK. My unique role saw me combine coaching with documenting the six week project through media outlets. This included photographs, press releases and interviewing Zambian peer leaders.

Designed and delivered football coaching sessions to young football players with a range of disabilities, including; visual impairments, hearing impairments, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and learning difficulties. This was a very challenging role, but equally rewarding. The role developed my problem solving skills as I was often required to adapt my sessions in sometimes unpredictable situations. The role also improved my organisation, communication and leadership skills.

Member of Creative Team that assisted with the production and execution of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. My role was to ensure the welfare of acting cast and assist with the positioning and organisation of cast during rehearsals and ceremonies proper. This was a unique experience that enabled me to work behind the scenes and contribute to the management of a major global event. The role was a test of my team-working, leadership, organisation, problem-solving and communication skills.

This was a disciplined role that demanded long working hours and early start times.The role developed my discipline, maturity and work ethic.
