Senior Mechanical Engineer
CurrentProvide Engineering support to shipyard, navy, and vendors for the design, manufacture, test, operation, maintenance, and life cycle activities for a wide variety of specialty valves. Typical products include engineering reports, calculations, letters, and maintenance documents. Many products require collaboration with other subject matter experts, trades, vendors, the navy, or shipyard personnel to determine root cause of the issues, the acceptability of affected material, and to implement appropriate corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Performed as group lead for various large scale vendor quality issues requiring bounding of issues, performing risk assessments to current production and in service submarines, formulating resolution plans accounting for cost and schedule, and executing/organizing resolution.Provide mentorship and senior peer reviews for employees to ensure work of the highest quality and to further their career development.Worked with upper level management to analyze current business structure with regards to procurement, quality assurance, and vendor oversight in order to address pertinent company wide issues and ensure future success.Familiar with export/import compliances practices due to cognizance of multiple components fabricated by international vendors.
