Supervising Criminalist of the Physical Evidence Section, the PES encompasses the, Trace Evidence, Firearms/Toolmarks, Arson/Explosives, and Controlled Substance section. It also has jurisdiction of the Crime Scene and Clandestine Laboratory Response Units. Primary Crime Scene Response Investigating Criminalist Primary criminalist on call for crime scene investigation of homicide, officer involved shootings, arson, bombings, and clandestine laboratories; train criminalists to become crime scene investigators in areas of physical evidence collection, ballistics, bloodspatter analysis, and crime scene reconstruction.Criminalistics/Physical Evidence Examiner Develop methods and procedures in physical evidence analysisForensic Alcohol Analyst Supervisor Consult with criminalist in charge of blood and breath alcohol program regarding methods, procedures, and instrumentation; testify in court as an expert witness in driving under the influence cases.Laboratory Training Officer - Responsibilities include: the development of training manuals and guidelines for the Physical Evidence Section of the laboratory including the development of an in-house training program for the Physical Evidence SectionNIBIN System Administrator/Supervisor – Trained in the operation of the NIBIN system in the collection of cartridge case and bullet images.Write and manage grants for technology upgrades to the current Laboratory Management Information System (LIMS) and to shift case reporting to a web based system. Project Coordinator for the NIBIN program - Coordinate and set up the NIBIN program. Phase out the FBI DRUGFIRE program as part of the Southern California Drugfire Consortium.
