Greg has focused heavily on Nucor’s expanding sustainability and ESG efforts. Under his leadership, Nucor has established a dedicated Corporate Sustainability Team and a Greenhouse Gas Reduction Technology Team. Greg also led efforts to develop and implement Nucor’s greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets, announced in the summer of 2021. He regularly speaks publicly and engages with investors, public policy makers and other organizations about GHG reductions strategies in the steel industry. Greg also serves as the Chair of the Global Steel Climate Council, an international organization established to set ambitious, credible, production agnostic science-based targets for the reduction of GHGs in the steel industry.
