I joined Applied Research Associates in July of 2009 as the Project Technical Advisor for Human Effects in the Advanced Technology Office (ATO) in San Antonio, Texas, a part of the Engineering and Applied Sciences Sector. My research efforts focus on the study of human survivability in blast and other high threat environments. I am also a certified Professional Engineer licensed in the State of Texas. I took over management of the ATO in 2012.I left the Army in 2009 after 13 years of service after serving as the Deputy Director for Operational Medicine Research and as a Medical Detachment Commander in the 44th Medical Command. My technical and staff assignments included the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, 7th Special Forces Group, US Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine, 2nd Infantry Division, and the Joint Task Force, Bravo in Honduras.I have over 18 years of experience leading and managing a diverse array of environmental and medical professionals at all levels of support from direct health inspections of public facilities, environmental compliance of entire installations, including drinking water sampling and system wide compliance assessments to meet EPA regulations, to education and training in environmental and health protection measures and development and implementation of new regulations and policies to protect the health and wellness of Warfighters at home and abroad.I hold a bachelors of science in chemical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and a masters of science in environmental engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
