Dr. Gregory Shepherd (Ph.D Georgetown University) teaches Instructional Methodologies, Implementation of Pedagogy-driven Technologies, Latin American Literature and Spanish Language at Kean University. Gregory has taught educators at the university level for 20 years in several countries—USA, Ecuador, Puerto Rico and Cuba. He has designed and directed ESL and Spanish language immersion programs and workshops globally—most recently leading and participating in teacher education initiatives for instructors from China, South Korea and Spain. In addition, he researches and deploys disruptive pedagogies in areas as diverse as mobile technology, hybrid learning environments and gaming. His current research focuses on technology integration in teacher education models, the use of gaming and mobile applications in language learning and the construction of hybrid identities in Latin America. He has applied innovative teaching methods to many learning contexts: several US Universities, Wenzhou-Kean University (China) language instruction, International Teacher Education workshops and research seminars, technology and pedagogy seminars, ESL Teacher Education programs, and methodology, literature and language instruction. These teaching experiences have fed his research resulting in peer-reviewed books and chapters in academic monographs as well as presentations at diverse International and National conferences. They also inform work in program revision, teacher training and program assessment initiatives along with the design and development of a video series on technology integration in Project-based Learning initiatives. The National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) has recognized three of his students’ projects. He is also an ACTFL/CAEP national reviewer.
