With this in mind, we intend on creating a private philanthropic entity to provide direct financial support to the developing world in the form of mini-grants to organizations which improve the well being of global communities. The emerging areas of focus for Globosocks, LLC, to support are in education, health, civic engagement, social welfare, community development and solar energy. My personal and professional commitment to a pathway to prosperity for all human beings transcends national boundaries for we are all global citizens and my experience extends beyond civic engagement and volunteerism; however acknowledging the importance of a quality of life, access to education, access to healthcare, economic development and the eradication of poverty are basic human rights. Appointed by New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson to develop a vision for the Commission for Community Service, I was responsible to approve, select and facilitate AmeriCorps and Commission supported projects, both federally and state funded ($2.3 million and $700,000 respectfully). Responsible for financial management, procurement and organizational contract negotiation, I also work on analysis and synthesis of data to appreciate the diverse statewide needs. I am charged to jointly create objectives among over 2,350 full-time and part-time volunteers and over 345 AmeriCorps volunteer members in 18 of New Mexico’s 33 counties.
