Gregory Alper owns Alper Music in West LA. In addition to leading weekly Jazz Ensembles for young players and a Jazz Camp, Alper Music School offers private instruction on Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute, Guitar, Bass, Jazz Improvisation and Composition.Director Gregory Alper, has enjoyed a 4 decade career performing, recording, composing for film and teaching young musicians. He composed the music for the original Warcraft game. Alper spent years in the New York studio and gig scene and cut one of the seminal jazz fusion albums - FAT DOGGIE - in the late 1970s, which was recently re-mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London and re-released on First Hand Records. Alper has also directed the Children's Music Workshop Honors Orchestra Jazz Band in concert at Royce Hall. These televised concerts have garnered 3 Emmys! Alper's Young Musicians Big Band is an exciting, very talented group of 12-14 year olds. This swingin' and rockin' 10 piece ensemble perform Big Band and Contemporary favorites. The group consists of 2 Trumpets, 4 Saxophones, Trombones and 3 Clarinets and several feature vocals. Backed by a pro rhythm section, Alper's Young Musicians really swing and will wow you with their improvisation! Alper says, "It’s inspiring to hear these young musicians swing. They are fearless in their solos.
