I was hired as a permanent employee after demonstrating my proficiency in the skills required in a temporary position. This Sherwin-Williams plant manafactures coatings. As a quality control laboratory technician, I perform tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods. I employ FT-NIR analysis, gas chromatography, visual-light spectrophotometry, etc. and wet chemistry techniques for much of the testing. Results are promptly relayed to other departments in order for production to run smoothly. At times, I make and test lab batches so that we can make adjustments to scale. Other responsibilities include regular maintenance and calibration of the equipment and upkeep of lab and inventory.
