Physical properties were characterized using BET surface measurements, XRD for determination of the material and stoichiometric amounts of Ni, Mo, and B in the material. XPS was used at PNNL for determination of the charges associate with the metals in the catalyst lattice. An HDS reactor was used for determining the catalyst efficiency in removing sulfur from petroleum feedstocks.
