My 2019 large-format works-on-paper solo show at UNC Asheville's Ramsey Library in January 2020: "A Progressive Escape" portrayed an emotional and spiritual cycle over the course of one life.I wrote a monthly art/lifestyle column for Rapid River Arts & Culture Magazine, August 2009 - January 2018. Dept Head, Art Administration, which incorporated art, legal, and financial duties. Daily activities included writing and negotiating contracts for photography, design, illustration, and merchandising; art tracking and legal clearance issues; creative element coordination, financial tracking, communication with artist legal and management, and procedural development and adherence for art related to CDs, DVDs, Records & Digital product in the highly-competitive music industry. Introduced contractual language for graduated image licensing that saved the company thousands upon thousands of dollars. Twenty-five or so words - present or missing - can make or break nearly any project.

El Segundo, Ca

Time at Mattel Toys included supervision, direction, and creation of modern internal graphic design group, working on puzzles & games team launch, and ultimately coordinating and developing an in-house packaging team for Customized Barbie products for dozens of accounts with development timelines ranging from weeks to 18 months. Developed and directed new cardboard packaging use method that resulted in a company patent. That's right: CARDBOARD. You'd be amazed at what an extra 1/10 of a penny invested in a project can do. I also suggested adding color to the catalog order packaging - what was once brown became Barbie pink and much more giftable. A very hard, very cool, very rewarding 7 years of my life.

I worked off and on for two different "Mar-Com" groups in a ginormous complex in Loveland, CO, with some of the greatest people you could ever hope to work with in a big company setting. This was an amazing experience, and I am still in touch with several people from back then. Make friends and keep them.
