Throughout my tenure at St. Johns County Fire Rescue since August 2011, I have taken the initiative to establish community education programs. These programs aim to raise public awareness about the significance of CPR and AED skills for individuals of all backgrounds. I am proud to say that during the first eight years of my tenure, I successfully developed and implemented several community outreach programs for CPR and Stop the Bleed. These initiatives were well-received by local businesses and communities. Working collaboratively with the local school district, I created a comprehensive "Hands-Only CPR and AED" training program for graduating seniors that trained approximately 35,000 students over the years. This program was later extended to include 5th and 6th graders as well. My efforts have positively impacted the community, and I am confident in the success of these programs. To expand our outreach efforts, we have implemented "Stop the Bleed" classes available to local residents and school staff. These classes are designed to provide vital instruction on managing and controlling bleeding in emergencies. By making these classes available, we can help individuals in our community develop the necessary skills to respond effectively to medical emergencies. I take immense pride in the work I have accomplished alongside hundreds of volunteers over eight years. In June 2020, I transitioned to a full-time Public Information Officer role, which has presented me with an invaluable opportunity to expand communication regarding the exceptional men and women with whom I collaborate daily. My experiences working through tropical storms, hurricanes, deployments, and the recent COVID pandemic have facilitated my growth as a communicator and as a photographer and videographer.
