Downstream Process Sciences team, focussed on development and optimisation of scalable purification processes for NBEs.Responsible for the design, execution and reporting of experiments to a high standard following GXP practices.Gained extensive experience of operating lab and pilot-scale Liquid Chromatography and routine analytical techniques including; ELISA, cIEF and HPLC.Worked in a fast-paced project environment with an exciting portfolio, focusing on implementing an early stage purification process within tight deadlines. Succesfully ensured the implementation of key purifaction steps into a complete initial process.

A 12 month, laboratory-based placement where I completed an assessed project for my degree.Working in the Raw Materials Development team, I was involved with the application of novel R&D knowledge into processes that can be perfected and scaled for manufacturing. Gained valuable experience in multiple manufacturing departments to meet business needs and learned a broad range of skills including Ultrafiltration, HPLC and Gel electrophoresis techniques. Specifically, my project involved developing a protein purification procedure for a human antigen. By applying my knowledge of HPLC and adapting previous concept work, I produced a robust production procedure for a >99% pure protein. Downstream, this was used for mammalian immunisation to produce polyclonal antibodies for a novel immunodiagnostic test kit product.
