Use of photoreceptor precursor cells for cone replacement therapy to relieve neural degeneration. I demonstrated increased efficiencies in cone-cell transplantation in adult retina as well as investigated the potentially detrimental effects of a rod-rich host to cone-integration. I also designed, developed and performed preliminary experiments to study changes in DNA methylation in developing photoreceptors – both in rods and in cones. Epigenetic programming in human endometrial stromal cellsI focused on the role of epigenetics in decidualization of primary cultures of human endometrial stromal cells (hESCs). I discovered how methyltransferase EZH2 is regulated in response to hormonal stimuli and the effects it has on the chromatin pattern in promoter regions of, but not limited to, decidual marker genes. Furthermore, I worked on genome-wide changes in DNA methlyation upon decidualization. See attached publications for further details.
