I was the Systems Administrator for Disruptive Innovations and Micro Projects. It was a nice, very smart group of people who worked on what came next to eBay. Lots and lots of projects. Holidays, mobile, Developers Program, Skunkworks, Deal of the Day, Bonus Bucks.

I was responsible for migrating 7 of the sub-companies,Marcus & Millichap CompanyMarcus & Millichap Capital CorporationPacific Property CompanyUrban Housing GroupSovereign Investment GroupHanover Financial GroupHighland Development CompanyFrom the existing network (Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services) onto a new corporate infrastructure: implementing the colocation solution; migrating the VPN site-to-site connections; deploying MPLS as much as possible; and building the environment of HP blade servers, NetApp backend, and Cisco ASA appliances in a redundant fail-over solution.

There were many projects at Interval, but by the time I got there we focused on video, and then on VoIP. Interval Media developed a video chat application, and then did VoIP for Digeo's Moxi box. I was responsible for the networking, the Sun boxes, the linux boxes, and implementing Oracle RAC on RHAS 2.1 (yes I am that guy on RedHat’s Bugzilla).

Implementing and supporting NT and NT-hybrid solutions for startup companies. Highlights include:User accounts and policies in a Sun/Unix/NT environment; Linux thin-server mail solutions; moving companies to new locations, including DNS; maintaining multiple web sites with IIS; supporting Macintoshes and Windows 95 clients in an NT environment; creating a Human Resources database in MS Access; deploying hardware-based (Netscreen) and software-based (Checkpoint) firewalls; implementing Citrix MetaFrame/Terminal Server solutions, both desktop and published apps. Clients included the Software Business Cluster (San Jose), Callidus Software (San Jose), Pets.Com (Emeryville/San Francisco), Casio, US Research and Development (San Jose), the Women's Technology Center (San Francisco), Great Entertaining/Shift Media (San Francisco), and MyPrimeTime (San Francisco).

Wrote and edited (with four other developers) Reading Adventures Primary, a complete first- and second-grade product that includes authentic literature, thousands of exercises, hundreds of activities, and an integrated writing/drawing tool (Story Painter). Created prototypes and production tools using Macromedia Director (including Lingo scripting), Authorware, HyperCard, and WordBasic.The product sold millions of copies for over 10 years as one of the most successful CAI tools ever.Vendor ManagerIn-house manager for out-of-house vendors who developed exercises for first- and second-grade product. As the sole person overseeing the project, I was involved in all aspects of the production - including design, content creation, off- and on-line reviews, revisions, QA, contract maintenance, scheduling, and budget.Additional Responsibilities-Created standard templates and productivity macros (Visual Basic for Applications, WordBasic) for project use. Created web pages for intranet site.
