I completed a Ph.D. in Gender History at the top-ranked department for Gender History in the United States. My research synthesized significant amounts of historical data alongside interviews with experts in and outside of academia to answer complex questions and tell new stories about women, violence, mental health, and war. In addition to completing coursework, comprehensive exams, and three years of independent research, I have also: • Trained academics across disciplines on writing and communicating with non-academic audiences. Professionally edited books and articles for publication with major presses and helped place articles in The Atlantic and The Washington Post• Won $150,000 in funding for my innovative research into the history of violence, gender, and global war• Performed desk and archival research in English, French, German, and Turkish• Managed an online global network of more than 2000 academics and other researchersstudying women and war, supporting interdisciplinary collaboration that led directly to new publications• Communicated complex original research in written, verbal, and visual formats at top conferences in my field, to both specialists and non-specialists;• Planned and implemented both short- and long-term research studies;• Organized research and writing submissions for professors I assisted, using multiple databases and knowledge management systems;• Developed and implemented curricula to improve students’ qualitative analysis and writing skills

I founded and directed NARAL's first Opposition Research Department, which still operates to this day. I shaped the strategy for studying their opponents, the extremist wing of the U.S. anti-abortion movement. We provided the entire NARAL network and their coalition partners with rapid response capacity and long-term research deep dives, and developed new knowledge management systems for coordinating and compiling research products. Under my leadership, our team served as a vital resource to a national coalition of over a dozen major reproductive rights organizations during the U.S. Supreme Court case Whole Woman's Health v. Hellerstedt. I worked directly with high-level executives and board members across this coalition to keep them informed and prepared with actionable information based on our research, and briefed journalists, members of Congress, and U.S. presidential campaigns. Our work was regularly featured in national news articles and op-eds, in both print and televised media. I also handled all operational tasks for the team, keeping us organized, on-time, and under budget across multiple competing deadlines.

I specialized in producing original research, written and visual content, and institutional strategy, on gender, poverty, and disability in the U.S. I produced blogs and commentary that analyzed and fact-checked national news and right-wing policies, appeared on national television and radio to comment on and promote Media Matters' work, wrote winning grant proposals to support research, and helped coordinate outreach efforts with allied organizations. I ran training programs for new researchers on both content and process and provided mentorship to young women joining the organization. I also engaged senior industry leaders and experts in the Disability Rights and Women’s Health spaces to create new research programs from scratch that responded to their needs, bringing new partners to our organization, and helping them overcome critical challenges in their media programs.

As a deputy team leader, I helped direct a group of researchers in monitoring and analyzing national news media, identifying inaccurate or misleading information, and rapidly responding with reliable sources in research items. I handled operational tasks for a team that started its day at 5am, often working as the highest-ranked person in the office until 9am.

I assisted Professor Quincy Mills with his courses and research in African-American History. I constructed a database of primary source documents for research and educational purposes, and prepared and organized materials for his classes and upcoming books.
