My clients benefit from the fact I am certified as a Trademark Specialist by the North Carolina Bar Board of Legal Specialization, which is the highest level of recognition by the North Carolina Bar of the competency and experience of lawyers in the area of trademark law. I am one of only 27 lawyers statewide to receive this distinction and one of only four Trademark Specialists in the Charlotte area.Known for my ability to negotiate and find compromise in difficult situations, I regularly represent clients in trademark, copyright, unfair competition, and trade secret matters. I also handle all types of intellectual property disputes and litigation in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and federal courts. I realize that oftentimes, intellectual property matters overlap between patent and trademark issues, and my experience in my practice, as well as my background in biology and chemistry, enable me to understand both the scientific and trademark needs of a client.I counsel clients in trademark selection, availability, registration, and protection. I have extensive experience in prosecuting both state and federal trademark applications, conducting trademark availability searches, and analyzing trademark infringement issues. I focus on providing my clients with practical and business-minded advice. I am also a federally registered patent lawyer.
