Renewable Energy Vermont

Executive Director of Renewable Energy Vermont (REV), the state trade association for all renewable energy technologies. REV has a dual mission to (1) increase jobs in the renewable energy industry and (2) to increase energy and economic security while mitigating climate change by advancing resilient renewable energy throughout Vermont. As E.D., I utilized business management and organizational skills to successfully grow and advance the organization while also leading REVs external energy policy initiatives before the political, legislative, regulatory and media realms.Internal success indicators include increasing cash flow by 288%, growing annual budget (33% increase), galvanizing membership (85% increase), boosting event profit (63% increase). Working collaboratively with others, external successes include industry, policy and regulatory advancements such as a 6.2% increase in clean energy jobs in Vermont from 2014 - 2015; frequent expansion of the net-metering cap; passage of a Renewable Portfolio Standard; establishment of legislated solar tax certainty; defeat of anti-renewable legislation; maintaining state funding for solar, wind and biomass projects; and the deployment of thousands renewable energy projects in Vermont.

Burlington, Vermont

As Program Manager, I successfully developed, implemented and evaluated multiple disparate energy projects and programs simultaneously. Projects included the management of dispersing $9 million through the Vermont Small Scale Renewable Energy Incentive Program, overseeing public school energy efficiency challenge programs, and creating and developing the Vermont Community Energy Mobilization (VCEM) project. VCEM is an example of my ability to "plan-do-check-act" under a highly compressed timeline yielding great results. VCEM trained volunteers to conduct a baseline review of the efficiency of a home with "neighbors helping neighbors" to understand how to save money and energy while improving comfort. Within two months, the program was developed and trainings provided, efficiency materials were shipped - ultimately leading to several hundred homes receiving neighbor visits achieving several energy retrofits.

Greater Boston Area

As Instream Flow Specialist and Program Coordinator, I managed multiple projects focused on river monitoring and ecosystem restoration. Projects and tasks included various fieldwork including water quality and quantity monitoring (in coordination with the US Geological Survey) in 30+ impaired Massachusetts streams; a renewed effort to restore the Lower Neponset River in Milton/Boston; stakeholder coordination to develop policy documents including a statewide Sustainable Watersheds White Paper and to provide feedback regarding environmental policies, standards, and guidance documents.
