As the National Deputy Director of Cadet Programs for the Civil Air Patrol, I bring over 21 years of nonprofit leadership and 28 years of experience supporting summer camps across Connecticut, Ohio, New York, and New Jersey. As Director of Safety and Experiences at the Scouting America, Greater New York Councils my primary focus is enhancing our volunteers’ experience, ensuring it’s both enjoyable and fulfilling. I lead youth safety and protection programs, focusing on incident response, proactive strategies, and comprehensive training to maintain a safe environment for all participants.I oversee a team including Directors of Camping, camp directors, Customer Service Managers, Store Managers, Property Maintenance Managers, Food Service Managers, and over 180 seasonal and part-time staff, to deliver exceptional programs and experiences. In collaboration with staff and volunteers, I manage the annual capital budget, overseeing projects and supporting fundraising efforts. I manage alumni relations for Ten Mile River Scout Camps and provide support to the council camping and activities committees and their subcommittees, seeking partnership opportunities to enrich our programs and resources.My role also encompasses overseeing Ten Mile River Scout Camps, Alpine Scout Camp, and William H. Pouch Scout Camp, which together form one of the largest Scout camping operations in the northeast, with over 80,000 camper nights and a budget of over $3,000,000 in gross revenue annually. I ensure a high-quality camping experience for all participants.Revenue generation through our council stores is a key aspect of my role, making outdoor equipment accessible to Scouts and the public. Warren Cutler Scout Reservation in Naples, NY; Camp Babcock-Hovey on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake in Ovid, NY; and Massawepie Scout Camps in the Adirondacks near Tupper Lake, NY, ten full-time staff and 180 seasonal employees.Develop, implement and promote camping programs for weekend and summer resident camping experiences for youth and adults with a 13% increase in revenue over three years.Provide leadership to council training, advancement, activities, risk management, technology, United Way relationships, program delivery and support staff of the Seneca Waterways Council.

Oversees the daily operations of Scouting in a five-county area with 10,000 youth members and 3,000 adult members served annually. Supervises four direct report executive staff, two direct report camp rangers, and 73 part time or seasonal indirect report staff. Manages support staff in the absence of the Executive Director.Led an annual membership increase in the council over three years with a total increase of 3.6% over the time period In less than one year, assisted the council with debt reduction, donor cultivation, administrative adjustments and program adjustments in order to remove the conditional charter status of the council resulting in the Most Improved Council in the country award in 2011 in Journey to Excellence.Oversaw six day camps, one Boy Scout resident camp, one Cub Scout resident camp, two camping properties and the council service center. Responsible for policies, procedures, risk management, staffing, marketing, alumni development and overall administration of camping programs.Increased summer camping and off-season camping profit by $93,000 and attendance by 7.4% over four years.Achieved the National Council Marketing Award of Excellence for re-branding the council, donor cultivation materials, website and collateral marketing materials.Responsible for budget development and oversight for 54% of Council revenue through camping and programs.

Supervised area consisting of 14,219 youth members, 3,200 volunteers and 423 groups.Responsible for Cub Scout Day Camps with net revenue increase of 45% over one year period.Cub Scout Day Camp attendance increase of 6% for a total of 805 campers over six weeks.Managed several aspects of a 4.5 MM operating budget including day camps and off season activities.Supervised full-time staff of six area executives and four program specialists.Provided leadership to six separate area boards of directors with support of area staff.
