Guesnerth Josué Perea joins the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice as theManaging Director. Josue most recently worked in the Catholic and Charter school sectors,serving as both a Director of School Operations and a Regional Director of Operations.Josue has a long history of working with Latinx, specifically Afro-Latinx, communities andserves as the (volunteer) Executive Director of the afrolatin@ forum, Co-Founder of theAfoLatine Theology Project, Co-Host of the Majestad Prieta Podcast, a podcast onAfroLatinidad, and a Sojourner's Rising Leaders Fellow.His research on Afro-Colombianidad has been part of various publications including LetSpirit Speak! Cultural Journeys through the African Diaspora and the Revista de EstudiosColombianos. Josué was once named by the newspaper amNewYork as one of fiveColombians "making a mark" in New York City. Josue has been asked by NPR, CNN, NYT,and NY1 Noticias, among other outlets, to give insights about Anti-Blackness within theLatinx community and topics relating to Afro-Latinidad. Josué holds a MA in Theology fromAlliance Theological Seminary, and BA in Latin American History from the City College ofNew York.
