Primarily involved in training in preparation to move to the new ATC tower (NVCR) along with the move from a paper Flight Progress display to a new Electronic Flight Progress System (EFPS), playing an integral part in the development and implementation of the NVCR programme. Extensive experience in instructing EFPS and maximising training benefit from the available resources, including the Simulator.

Valid Aerodrome rating at Heathrow Tower since 8 April 2004. Involved with Safety Surveys, EFPS development and many aspects of the New VCR. Selected as an instructor for training for the move to the new tower and the new Electronic Flight Progress System and subsequently to conduct OJTI duties.

12 months basic training at the NATS College of ATC followed by 9 months validation training at Heathrow airport.

Responsible to Commanding Officer for all aspects of managing the Navigation Department including pilotage, watchkeeping, chart maintenance and departmental organisation.Secondary duties across my naval career appointments were varied and numerous but included training of all personnel within the navigation department, public relations, written correspondence to Ship’s affiliates, managing cryptographic material and confidential books and managing various sized divisions of sailors.

Responsible to Commanding Officer for the Navigation Department. Took over at short notice during post refit trials and brought an inexperienced navigation department from an embryonic state to a position where they passed the subsequent Senior Staff inspection with an above average report.

Wide range of duties held including being the primary Watchkeeper.
