CurrentMy experiences at Telesat enabled me to hone my project management skills. The majority of the projects involved installations in the Canadian north. I've recommended to an Ultrasound manufacturer to utilize UDP vs TCP as their software streaming mechanism. One project demanded that dial-up ATM machines be able to communicate with the PSTN over satellite from east coast ferry vessels. Tremendous research and testing proved fruitful and the solution was implemented.The work I've done at Telesat has literally forced me to gain tremendous experience in the Linux (Open-Source) world.I have also gained the following skills:Utilizing various Linux and Windows tools, utilities and programs;Writing scripts for various functions (ie: automating tasks) and situations (using: shell, perl, expect, VBS, and VBA);Installing and configuring Cisco equipment (routers, switches, vlans, static, dynamic and policy routing);Installing and configuring VPNs and tunnels(ie: IPSEC, ssh);Installing, configuring and utilizing various network monitoring tools: HPOpenview, Nagios, MRTG, Cacti, etc..);Designing, installing various satellite technologies such as Advantech's DVBRCS, iDirect's TDMA and Comtech SCPC;Hands-on knowledge of network security and vulnerability testing technologies (ie: wireshark, tcpdump, nmap, snort, tripwire, iptables);Installing and configuring Linux platforms (Red Hat, Fedora, Ubuntu, Puppy);Installing and configuring various Windows platforms Windows 98, NT, 2000, XP, 2003 Server and Vista;Provide 24/7 on call support (level 3) to our operations department;Writing various reports and procedures to complement installations and designs (using: Word, Excel, MS Project, Visio, Powerpoint);Performing office automation duties such as imaging hard drives, silent software installs, etc...Assembling, wiring and testing various communications racks;Worked on Sun (Solaris) and IBM servers;Inventory control;
