Key achievements:• Writing and editing news, features and interviews on clinical cancer trials.• Liaising with an international network of senior-level scientists and academics.• Training a technical team in copywriting and marketing/communications.• Launching their social media campaign to a targeted audience.• Re-launching and writing their marketing literature including exhibition materials, electronic newsletters, brand guidelines and new promotional fliers and postcards for each ECMC.• Developing a new website including content creation.The ECMCs are a joint initiative between Cancer Research UK and the UK departments of health to drive and promote clinical trials in cancer research.

With an audience of 230,000 doctors and a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including the media and government, I managed a variety of communications projects: • Publishing – overseeing a budget of nearly £1m and managing a small team, delivering an editorial, design and print management service, establishing editorial processes and managing the house style. Managing a broad list of corporate publications, guidance books and ebulletins. • Working with a wide range of suppliers: printers and distributors; web design and marketing agencies; video production companies; writers and proofreaders; photographers and illustrators. I also project managed the launch of new print and digital publications and a suite of marketing materials.• Communications – delivering a broad communications strategy on specific projects, overseeing producing publicity and marketing materials, press releases, liaising with external media, and managing the entire communications mix from stakeholder mapping to social media.
