Contract Trainer
Project Manager Training Lead
Running a training Project for Comfort Group (Sleepy head) looking after and based at 2 sites in Auckland 1 at Otahuhu and one in Avondale, also overseeing site at Hornby (have 1 staff member looking after this site part time who i am responsible for) Main role is to help train, observe, assess and process results for 250 plus staff through L2 Core Skill Qualification. I am working with Competenz (ITO) and Risk Management Group (training facilitator for part of program) as well as the management at Comfort group to carry out training on job observations and assessing with very little disruption to the staffs daily routine. Organising training schedules and running session that fit in with the site production schedules. I am responsible to provide weekly updates to Comfort Group Managers, We have bi Monthly Steering committee meetings (which i run and organise) I live Hamilton but travel to Auckland and reside for 3 / 4 nights (work schedule depend) with most days work starting at 6.00 and 6.30 am to fit in with the start time of the trainees.I would spend approx 3 to 4 hours most days on the factory floor with the trainees doing observations and have small discussion when and if appropriate. I have learnt that a lot of hard work, care and attention goes into making good quality mattress, bed bases and other foam products that Comfort Group produce.
Corporate Account Manager Dairy Processing
My role was to broker New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA) based training programs to New Zealand dairy companies and to give guidance around other training that staff may require.I would liaising with dairy companies training managers to make sure that the NZQA Unit Standards (US) based training their operation staff signing up to do, was the best fit, based on the process the operator worked in. I help the education division with the development of paper based instructional design documents, including learner guides, assessment documentation, assessment and moderation processes. Being the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for dairy processing, so also doing the last checks before these documents where sent out to clients. With a continue process of pushing through improvements as new idea's and methods would come to light. I was also the SME for dairy processing industry programming and unit standard development, the Standard Setting part of the ITO role. As part of my role I had to have the ability to communicate with CEO's of companies and right through the spectrum of staff to the new trainee that has just started work in the plant. As the part of most roles these days I had to write and file reports, these was done when ever i had done a visit and at the end of each month. The other documentation i was also doing was run searches through our database and enter training information into our training management system. We used Microsoft Excel, Word and OneNote as our main reporting and information gathering tools. Our main data processing system was for trainees a Pivotal CRM trainee management system called Smart TMS. From time to time I would be required to do some assessing for some clients some would be on job and some in the format of a desk top assessment IE going over assessment documents that had been Verified by a SME and making sure that they had all the requirements and evidence covered before signing off.
Training Coordinator
My role was to coordinating New Zealand dairy industry training to (NZQA) Qualifications and US based programs I would liaising with dairy companies training managers to make sure that the US based training their operation staff was signing up to do was best fit based on the process the operator worked in I had to have a good understanding of NZQA, Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) and NZITO process and rules so that I could pass on the correct information to dairy companies (managers, training coordinators) so that there staff was signed in to the correct programs and they then completed the correct relevant qualifications and received the correct government funding subsidies I had to write and file reports, run searches through our database and enter training information into our training management system. We used Microsoft Excel, Word as our main reporting and information gathering tools. During this period we transition from a standard trainee management system to a modern Pivotal CRM trainee management system called Smart TMS. Which we had to learn from scratch. I was involved in the initial trial before rolling out to rest of the office From time to time I would be required to do some assessing for some clients some would be on job and some in the format of a desk top assessment IE going over assessment documents that had been Verified by a SME and making sure that they had all the requirements and evidence covered before signing off. I also started to develop NZITO assessment resource to modernism them and make them more user friendly On a couple of occasions I was put in charge of meeting with overseas visitors to present and discuss the New Zealand Industry Training concepts (Chinese and Fijian government officials) Feb 2014 we merged with Primary ITO and moved from coordinator to account manager but duties were pretty much the same apart from a bit more accountability and reporting.
