The Innovation & Incubation team was responsible for assessing, validating and incubating horizon 2 and 3 growth opportunities for Telstra and for driving the engagement with the ecosystem (e.g. startups, government, universities, global innovation hubs). The Accelerator manages growth opportunities, driving business value for Telstra through rapid experimentation with disruptive methodologies. Telstra Software Group (TSG) was the strategic growth division focused on building high-growth software businesses in markets experiencing digital disruption, adjacent to Telstra’s core network business. TSG also established muru-D startup accelerator and acquired Ooyala, Videoplaza and Nativ as part of our online video strategy. I was a key member of the small team responsible for the strategy and development of specific software competencies across Telstra. We developed Telstra's API strategy and platform T.DEV, which was launched in February 2015 as Telstra’s first large scale public API developer program and has grown to become the developer engagement platform for the entire business. I also: - Managed software engineers responsible for developing prototypes, technical due diligence and technical evaluations for new product concepts.- Researched, designed and analysed new business opportunities within new growth businesses, both domestically as well as in target global markets. - Provided strategic and technical input into the TSG technical architecture as well as the Video Content Monetisation and Management strategy.- Delivered technical and business strategy for the development of the Telstra API Strategy, taking inputs from multiple internal business groups as well as global trends.- Provided technical and market insight into several ongoing strategy initiatives, including Internet of Things, Cloud Middleware and SDN.- Conducted technical due diligence on potential global and local market targets for Telstra Ventures..- Mentored Telstra sponsored start-ups to provide insights into Telstra processes and market opportunities to maximise their chances of success.- Provided technology buy/build evaluations of emerging companies and capabilities across a global marketplace.

The Apps CoE was designed to facilitate the creation of best practice guidelines, mobile application development frameworks, reusable building blocks (APIs), build a developer panel and to explore next generation technologies and how it could be implemented at Telstra Innovations, Products and Marketing. In this role I:- Developed the execution framework for promoting best practice in Mobile Applications development. - Produced internal communications strategy to promote AppCoE within Telstra.- Managed the development to speech enabled mobile app proof of concepts with our strategic partner.- Developed the “Connected Cities” concept for CEO Leadership Team.- Evaluated and provided re-development requirements for Government mobile app for inclusion into Telstra on-device experience.- Developed and evangelised the creation and operational model of an Applications Centre of Excellence.- Delivered proof of concepts and code samples for native mobile and hybrid technologies development.- Provided technical and market expertise and analysis on emerging technologies and companies within the mobile app space.- Advised Telstra business units on mobile application best practice, and responsible development considerations to create mobile network friendly applications.- Provided API and Mobile application expertise for Connected Home project.

*m-View was previously Momentum Technologies Group.Momentum developed video streaming software and hardware for mobile technologies. I directed the development of the core product m-View, which won several national and international awards, and was productised and sold nationally as a Telstra product. The company was sold in 2009 and now operates under the name m-View.- Taking an idea and building it into a commercialised, award-winning product used by a blue chip client base; growing a team from 3 to 16.- Oversee the software development team to ensure product enhancements are delivered using Agile software development methodologies to meet market and client requirements.- Won numerous awards for product design excellence and innovation including iAward Best Communication Product, Qualcomm 3G A list Award.- Managed the technical team to win competitive tender bids for m-View business with clients such as NSW Fire Brigades and Queensland Emergency Services, despite being up against large multinational competitors.- Managed the technical team through a rigorous evaluation, design and testing process to launch as a Gold Partner with Telstra, providing m-View through a national sales channel.- Managed the successful technical design and sale to, and subsequent customisation and installation of m-View for successful use by relevant police forces for G20 and APEC major events.- Contributed to the design and documentation, and listed as an Inventor in patents relating to the m-View product, awarded in 2007.- Owned the technical relationship with customers and responsibility for ensuring product evaluation wins.
