Gerard Watson serves as Senior Advisor to the Geothermal Technologies Office of the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington DC, leading various executive, legislative, and external communications programs designed to expand support for - and accelerate domestic research and deployment of - geothermal energy and direct use. Prior to joining the DOE, Gerry led internal and external communications for ION Geophysical (NYSE: IO), one of the oil and gas industry’s top seismic technology innovators. He also has experience with the unique business requirements of startups and emerging companies, having helped position a number of clients for acquisition and/or investor funding, including Transform Software, TerraSpark Geosciences, CyrusOne, MasterMind Technologies and iCommunicate.His high tech experience includes serving in PR roles for Hewlett-Packard and Texas Instruments. Gerry holds a B.A. in Economics/Communications from the University of Michigan, where he completed a curriculum in professional writing. He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Energy Innovation from Stanford University. He is an affiliate of the Andlinger Center at Princeton University.
