I have a strong background in Rust, Go, TypeScript, Java with Spring Boot, React, Node, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes. I particularly enjoy working with strongly typed languages. I primarily develop on MacOS so I can easily use git and other command line tools, but am also comfortable on Linux and Windows.I’ve worked at a large publicly traded company, my own startup, and worked at a couple earlier stage companies, as well as created and contributed to various open-source projects.I enjoy both building improvements to existing codebases (typically using Agile/Kanban) as well as greenfield development, and I also have had opportunities to mentor junior developers.My most recent experience was working on Go (Golang) services (REST and Twirp/Protobuf) with React/TypeScript frontends in a Kubernetes environment running on AWS and Google Cloud with Rollbar error logging, Prometheus/Grafana metrics, CloudWatch logs, and eventing to a custom data lake.I have also been working with Rust since the first version of the language was released, and have been writing a lot of Rust for side projects have become deeply familiar with Actix Web framework. I also have released a crate on crates.io.My strengths lie in building and maintaining REST backends, converting JavaScript to TypeScript (as well as writing 100% new TypeScript), and running services on Kubernetes clusters. I’m accustomed to building Docker images (and with multi-stage builds). I have also built prometheus endpoints and Grafana dashboards and done performance work benchmarking service endpoints with tools like wrk and oha, CPU and heap analysis, and database optimization (explain plans, indexes, join optimization, and so on).I use SDLC best practices such as automated code formatting, linting, SOLID principes, unit and integration tests, CI/CD pipelines, and dependency scanning.
