Research Scientist
CurrentWill leads research related to the development hybrid, renewable plus battery projects at the lab. More generally, his work focuses on the integration of renewable energy into both the bulk power and distribution systems and covers issues such as transmission planning, reliability/resiliency, and utility rate design. He has published his research in Applied Energy, Energy Policy, and Utilities Policy among other journals, and has been invited to speak at FERC, the Energy Systems and Integration Group, and an assortment of renewable energy industry groups. While being a guest on multiple podcasts, he has also been featured in popular publications such as Green Tech Media and Utility Dive. At the lab, he is a member of a diverse, nationally recognized research program on the planning, design, and evaluation of renewable energy policies. This research group focuses on the costs, benefits, and market potential of renewable electricity sources, electric grid operations and infrastructure impacts, and public acceptance and deployment barriers.
