Sanandaj Combined Cycle Power Plant

Responsibilities:Managed the electrical discipline of the steam cycle phase of the project ensuring targets were met on time, within budget and on specification. Coordinated with internal disciplines such as procurement, HSE, mechanical, civil and instrumentation departments in an effective teamwork activity.Notable achievement:Successfully installed and commissioned 2 X 164MW turbo-generators and their 200MVA transformers and auxiliary systems such as heat recovery steam generator, water treatment, steam generators, air compressors, oil system, switchgear, aux. transformers,... as major milestones of the project on time and budget using critical path method.Documented all the lessons learned of the project, including 400 Technical Queries ,150 Work Orders and provided feedback for the project manager, engineering department and consultants.Managed rectification of more than 1400 electrical punches (defects) by selecting local subcontractors instead of major contractors and managed the working teams directly which saved the company more than $120,000 by negotiating every single case in meetings with the superintendents.Performed risk analyses and developed risk mitigation plans for installation and commissioning plansTrained a team of 8 power plant operators successfullyManaged the safety of site as per the company’s safety and health policies resulting in safe workplace and no harm

Abadan Combined Cycle Power Plant

Responsibilities:Providing technical support for three major contractors at site by conducting engineering interpretation, estimation, design review, and resolving technical queries and non-conformance reports and liaising with the designers. Managed multiple major contractors, ensuring targets were met on time and within budget and on specification from site mobilisation phase to commissioning and final hand over with less than 1% unresolved defects.Liaised with all stakeholders such as client representatives, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, licensors’ supervisors, local authorities . Notable Achievements:Controlled document flow and following up 600+ documents with consultants by setting the priorities and ensured their timely delivery to the site.Proactively reviewed ,modified and documented 600+ documents such as Layout, SLD and circuit diagrams , modifying them using AutoCAD, Excel, Word, and, after implementation ,created mark-up documents and obtained as-built documents approvals. Reduced the cost of the project by more than $300,000 by modifying the cable route from underground cable gallery to shared pipe-cable rack, redesigning the cable tray system and acquiring the consultant and client's approval.Completed 800+ erection completion certificate (ECC) forms by continuously attending site and monitoring the installation process and listed around 700 defects of which over 99% were rectified before the issue of Final Acceptance Certificate.Reviewed, modified and confirmed more than 40 monthly and annual contractor invoices.Successfully led major and sub-contractors in four main project islands (HRSG, Power house, Auxiliary, Cooling Towers) and kept the safety at its highest level with no injury for more than three years.

This 21-month project was successfully delivered in 18 months on budget and I learnt practical aspects of project management as a junior engineer.• Designed, planned, estimated, procured and managed execution of the damper system project for the ammonia pre-cooling fans using 12 off ABB 18.5KW VSDs that increased the total efficiency of the cooling cycle by 16%, saving the company around $5000 daily.• Was promoted to a senior electrical project position after 4 years and won the monthly “safety award” for 6 times.
