I recently graduated from Simpson College, with a major in business management and a minor in marketing communication. I was enrolled in project-based learning for half of my classes in high school, where I completed two main projects. The first was a job fair for a local homeless shelter, and the second was designing, marketing, and pitching kolach benches to bring placemaking to the area. I learned lots about planning and organizing different events and pitches throughout these projects. I was involved in community engagement, a skill brought to Simpson. I am on the leadership team for Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), the leadership team for Storm Speaks, and I am also involved in Wesley Service Scholars (WSS). This past summer (2023), I had an internship in Human Resources at Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. I got to do a variety of tasks in HR and help out where I could. I have a desire to help and serve others in the future. Two past mission trips led to this being a main focus and goal of mine. Some skills I have demonstrated are kindness, communication, and a willingness to work with anyone. While I don’t always show these by being a loud leader, these skills are shown by listening to others and all my involvement, including the volunteer hours obtained for WSS. My future goals after graduation are to find a job and community where I can make an impact. I am leaning towards a career in Human Resources. I want to help others and help them be their best and reach their full potential. If I can make an impact, whether it be one person or one hundred, it will be worth it.
