Research Assistant under Dr. Roland Kays in the Biodiversity Lab at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. Annotating camera trap images of deer to assist in training a computer vision model to assess body condition scores (BCS).

Intern within the Sea Systems CUSV team. Worked on a variety of tasks including verification and creation of electrical schematics and cable harness designs, utilizing bench-top electrical equipment to test video throughout of ship cameras, developing trade studies for a variety of new electrical components, and recording output of CAN sensors during on-water testing.

Teaching assistant for ECE 212: Fundamentals of Logic Design (Fall 2022) and ECE 109: Introduction to Computer Systems (Spring 2023). Responsible for grading homework/exams, offering office hours for students, leading problem sessions, and assisting with labs.

Summer internship with the Antarctic Ecosystem Research Division at the NOAA Southwest Fisheries Science Center. I worked on the testing and development of autonomous underwater gliders to aid in krill surveys off the Antarctic Peninsula. This included recovery of gliders after test deployments, writing and running simulated missions, conducting test dives in a tank, ballasting gliders for neutral buoyancy, and prepping gliders for shipment. I also wrote custom MATLAB scripts to analyze battery consumption and power usage with different combinations and settings of sensors, and assisted in testing new cameras and shadowgraphs.

Doris Duke Scholar at North Carolina State University's Center for Marine Sciences and Technology (CMAST). In charge of statistical analysis for ongoing black sea bass research, examining the survival rates of black sea bass caught from different depths and treated with venting tools and recompression devices. Assisted with other projects, including: setting and fishing eel traps, analysis of mark/recapture data of mummichog, collecting fin clips from red snapper, assisting in tissue collection from blue marlin and identification of stomach contents from other gamefish caught at the Big Rock Tournament.
