I am a devoted wife and mother of five with a background in teaching special education at the elementary level. Throughout the course of my child bearing years, I have gone through a wide range of birth experiences. After enduring the effects of induction, epidurals and episiotomies, I was determined to have a better experience and an easier recovery than I’d had with my first three children.Through self-education and with the help of a doula, I was able to achieve an unmedicated hospital birth with my fourth child. I went on to hire my midwife, Carol Hutson of Tiny Blessings Maternity Care, to assist with the birth of my fifth baby. She ended up being a surprise breech delivery in my bath tub! It was the most amazing moment of my life! As a former school teacher, I am excited to combine my love for teaching and passion for birth by providing Birth Boot Camp classes and also offering doula services in Abilene and the Big Country. I believe that all women deserve education and support that prepares them for the mental and physical challenges of birth. I am also an advocate for attachment parenting, breastfeeding, and cloth diapering.
