• Analyzed the potential for developing non-productive land for corn and soybeans in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. • Assessed the current state of the agriculture industry in the Yucatan region as well as the regional climate, soil conditions, water supply, irrigation options, yield potentials, capital expenditure costs for land and equipment, input suppliers and input costs, and government subsidies. • Interviewed irrigation managers, equipment suppliers, local farm managers, and the investor’s lawyers to determine opportunities, best practices and advantages/disadvantages of farming in the Yucatan. • Researched and created a 65-page Powerpoint presentation of the data collected to be presented to potential investors. • Developed a financial model using Excel that included capital investment costs, profit analyses, return on investment, and cash flow charts to compare the costs and benefits of renting versus owning farmland.
