Graduate Capstone Project - ConsultantCummins Inc. Jan 2019 - Apr 2019Bloomington, IndianaAs a final component of the MPA program at the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, graduate students are put into small consulting teams to partner with regional businesses and organizations to create innovative solutions to a problem (this is called our "Capstone"). My team partnered with Cummins, Inc. to examine the policy landscape surrounding medium-sized electric fleet vehicles (EFVs) to identify cities with high readiness to adopt EFVs. To do this, we created three teams to examine different aspects of the problem: electricity supply, charging infrastructure, and social welfare. From there we selected a list of cities to evaluate, identified evaluative criteria within each aspect group, evaluated and scored each city, and investigated potential interactions among various criteria. Our analysis was both qualitative and quantitative.• Analyze federal, state, and municipal policies, codes, and plans to identify qualities that would facilitate the adoption of electric fleet vehicles• Identify financial and economic incentives for cities and Cummins to utilize to incentivize electric fleet vehicle adoption• Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis and recommend cities for Cummins to explore partnerships with for developing electric fleet vehicle operation -
