Provide a student perspective that many undergraduates find important. Some duties include pre-advisement meetings for students with more than 30 hours and initial check-in advisement for all undeclared students visiting the office. Also help monitor the flow into and out of the office and follow up with students who have not come in for their appointments, contacting students by phone and email. As well as assist in conducting major exploration activities at SOAR by preparing various materials, files, and documents for use in the SOAR advisement sessions. Other duties are assigned as they arise.

This position was created in Fall 2018, and takes place within the Fall academic semesters. Maintaining all peer leader responsibilities. This includes peer leading for one section of FYE 1220. Supervise no more than ten peer leaders. At minimum, conduct 4, 30 minute meetings with each assigned peer leader. Assist in training and developing peer leaders. Put aside racial, sexual and personal bias in order to meet student needs. Provide a safe, accepting and helpful environment. Use positive peer influence to promote a healthy, supportive and respectful environment. Demonstrate appropriate behaviors inside and outside of the classroom.
