As Beloit's Fulbright Program Advisor, I am responsible for outreach and recruiting to the Fulbright U.S. Student Program and the US-UK Fulbright Commission's Summer Institutes. I use a combination of targeted emails and social media marketing to reach out to applicants and then host information sessions, alumni panel presentations, and workshops on topics, such as researching countries, writing a personal statement, and impressing in an interview to help Beloiters determine whether or not Fulbright is the right fit.I work directly with both student and alumni applicants to create compelling essays, secure transcripts, and identify recommenders to submit language assessments and letters of recommendation. After an application is submitted, I remain connected with the applicant to inform them of status updates. If an applicant is successful, I then work to create a press release celebrating our applicant’s success.

In this position, I am responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of an innovative information and digital literacy outreach program and associated learning activities focused on student success aligned with curricular and co-curricular programs. I collaborate with faculty and other campus partners to identify, implement, and promote student success through information literacy, digital literacy, and academic skill initiatives, including the use of digital tools and techniques to create academic work. Beloit’s learning outcomes, which include being an effective communicator, a creative problem solver, a productive collaborator, and intellectually and professionally agile, are embedded into everything that I do.I am the subject liaison for 13+ academic majors and their associated minors in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Business/Economics and Communication departments. I provide library instruction for classes within those schools and hold individual research appointments for students completing research assignments in these disciplines. As the lead for marketing and outreach, I manage our social media accounts, including our YouTube (Morse Library) and Instagram (@BeloitLITS), which I started in 2019. All of our accounts have seen tremendous growth in both followers and engagement since that time. I also coordinate much of our programming, including our student orientation and the Night Against Procrastination, a huge study session with snacks and activities that occurs every finals week.I am responsible for managing our Collections, Access, and Acquisitions department, which consists of one full-time staff member and three to seven student employees. Working with our Chief Information Officer/Library Director and our other library staff, we have worked hard to complete many critical projects detailed in the projects section below.

As Outreach/Public Services Librarian at the University of Lynchburg, I was responsible for helping both the library and the institution meet set goals, by ensuring that the information needs of students, prospective students, faculty, and staff of the college were met. To do this, I met with representatives from different campus groups and held candid discussions about what they liked at the library and what they wished would change.I was also responsible for making the library a fun place to go to, be it to study or just hang out between classes. I created dynamic displays and held both passive and active programs in and around the library, including Crafternoons, Research Bootcamp, Open Mic Night, Speed Geeking, and more.I was the library liaison to the School of Humanities and the School of Social Sciences. I provided library instruction for classes within those schools and I also held individual research appointments for students completing research assignments for SHUSS classes. Over my time at the University of Lynchburg, I provided instruction for 175+ courses.I was also the liaison for the new Digital Humanities initiative on campus. I acted as the library contact for faculty interested in creating digital projects. I also put together workshops and presentations on various DH tools and trained/mentored both faculty and students on how to use those tools to accomplish their goals.

Completed a practicum in Reference and Library Instruction at Cornell College. Aside from observing and participating in instruction sessions and reference interviews with students, I worked to assess and improve existing LibGuides as the college migrates to LibGuides 2.0. I also analyzed access data for library databases in order to determine if student needs are met by the current selection, if there are better database subscriptions available, and brainstorm ways to ensure that students are using the right databases for their individual assignments. The final part of my practicum was to develop an assessment plan to assess the overall functionality of the library and the individual success of the librarians.

I worked closely with current residents to ensure that Aspire was a great community in which to live. I also worked with prospective residents in the leasing office.I provided strong customer service to prospective residents by coordinating the entire pre-move process, including but not limited to assisting applicants with completing all paperwork including applications, conducting tours of available units, providing description of community amenities, explaining wait list policies and communicating availabilities accurately, and making all potential residents feel at home.I compiled and organized all paperwork including entering applications into the Yardi system, preparing Resident Responsibility Agreement and move-in packages, preparing statements of BAH, termination letters, and service notifications, while also screening and selecting qualified applicants in accordance with Company policies, Fair Housing regulations, and local laws.I also served in a marketing capacity by promoting upcoming events, designing educational posters and brochures, writing social media posts, creating monthly newsletters, and networking with current and potential residents.

I was responsible for covering the reference desk and the reference chat for the UIowa Main library. I worked closely with the Circulation department to ensure timely and accurate interactions with all patrons, both in person, over the phone, and via the internet.I monitored the reference desk and the instant messaging application (LibChat) for the Main library during times when full-time staff was not available.I answered reference questions, conducted reference interviews, and provided reference instruction for library patrons.

At ACI, I helped with the day-to-day management of seventeen different national, state, and local associations, including Association for Preservation Technology, American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists, and IL School Nutrition Association, including the planning and execution of meetings and conferences. During my time here, I created a social media protocol for ACI and taught the executive directors the best ways to market their associations through social media. In this position, I increased customer and dealer satisfaction by implementing several procedures to help with the speed and ease of the documentation necessary for shipments to enter and leave the United States. I assessed data reports on unbilled freight and applied Six Sigma Yellow Belt principals to further monitor the situation and develop a more efficient freight-billing system while also creating training materials on the project to share with other departments.
