Competitive, goal oriented, self-disciplined, strong communicator, team player. This is how I and others would describe me. In 2015, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications Studies with Co-op designation from Wilfrid Laurier University. Along with my academics, I worked as a student leader in the Laurier Fitness Centre and played on the Varsity Women’s Hockey team for five years. My years of working and playing sport taught me how to balance a busy schedule and work in a team environment. Sport specifically gave me an avenue in which to use my innate competitive drive and desire to achieve individual and collective team goals.I completed my Masters in Recreation and Sport Pedagogy at Ohio University with a focus in management and leadership. I enjoyed my experience attending school in America but I am happy to be back in Canada where I am continuing my educational pursuits as a PhD candidate in the Recreation and Leisure Studies Department at University of Waterloo. My research and teaching interests relate to community sport, sport management, non-profit and voluntary sector management, and volunteer well-being. I currently balance my responsibilities as a PhD candidate with full-time work as a professor in the recreation and leisure services department at Conestoga College. I am a person who seeks ways of going above and beyond to accomplish a goal. I love the feeling of being good at what I do so I can do something good for others.
