About Halimah Ghafor

A detail-oriented person who loves synthesis and chemical reactions. Chemistry has always been appealing since my first lab experiment in 2017. I was fascinated when a simple reaction between different chemicals can lead to the synthesis of a new compound.The title of my final year project is "The Use of Enzymatic Calcium Carbonate for Chemical Consolidation of Sand". This project focuses on developing an effective method for sand consolidation using enzyme-induced carbonate precipitation (EICP) to reduce the production of sand. This method provides an effective solution to the sand production problem in the oil and gas industry because it is environmentally-friendly, reversible and cost-effective.While pursuing my bachelor's degree in chemistry, I handled industrial visits and community programs for youth. My experiences allowed me to discover the potential of working in established industries such as the pharmaceutical, environmental, and polymer industries. With every program, I was able to associate with professionals and work in large groups. I improved my leadership and teamworking skills which would be useful when working in a huge organization or leading a research team.I am looking forward to working in Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) industry or QA/QC department. I believe that my passion for learning and my professional record would make me a certified chemist.
