My responsibilities include creating, developing, and implementing strategic communication goals. Managing social media platforms, creating content and design for the monthly newsletter, filling various marketing roles where necessary. Family owned and operated snorkel cruise located off the coast of my home town, Kailua-Kona, HI, with a focus on sustainability and protecting the ocean ecosystem. The deckhand role includes vigorous mind and body strength, working long hours in near constant movement, with many responsibilities engaged at once. This includes exceptional customer service, to guests of various backgrounds, abilities, and ages. Along with customer service and safety, shipboard protocols and hard skills were a necessity. Quick to adapt and think fast when under pressure, I proved an asset to the crew and company. Clear communication resulted in a positive and progressive working environment. I energetically follow directions, while also being individually motivated to complete tasks.

Committed to sustainability, social justice and education, the Tall Ship "Adventuress" served as a idilic classroom (and home for its crew). As an educator / deckhand, I facilitate hands-on environmental education to the public, ranging from youth to adult. This includes scientific research and examination of ocean acidification, marine life, marine debris, nautical skills and life aboard; global awareness with emphasis on Salish Sea ecosystems.My willingness and capability provided me the capacity to assume multiple roles on ship including safety officer, environmental officer, marine sciences officer, etc. To live on a Tall Ship with 10 other crew members, and at times up to 40 students, you must be a good team member. Along with happily preforming my deckhand duties, active listening, clear communication and a good sense of humor made me a great shipmate.

As a marketing and digital media associate for NAU's Campus Recreation, my role was dynamic and team-oriented. Job details includes research, planning and completing projects efficiently before a deadline. Editing software included Adobe premier Pro, Photoshop and Indesign. My primary focus was on our Outdoor program, where my additional safety and outdoor leadership training came in handy. Fieldwork in outdoor recreation settings required additional planning for video / photography. Without impeding on the initial purpose of the trip, I would help facilitate the atmosphere with other team leads and creatively combine my digital content responsibilities.
