As an Adjunct Spanish Instructor, I had the opportunity to teach all classes in the Basic Spanish Program (Spanish I-IV). I loved collaborating with our team to share any materials that I had developed for my classes as well as getting new ideas from colleagues. I taught classes both in-person and online, learning to adapt my teaching style and materials to properly support both formats. I focused a lot on conversational skills and interactive engagement with students. Meeting and speaking with each student individually is important to me as an instructor, so I can address any issues or improve my instruction to better support my students. The University of Memphis has provided me with wonderful teaching opportunities, and I am so grateful to have found this profession.

At BHSU, I am currently teaching Spanish for Healthcare. I have had the opportunity to develop my own syllabus, materials, and assessments. Though I work independently, I am able to collaborate with other instructors in my department and at the university. BHSU has provided me a space to be creative with my planning and development, which has been very fun and fulfilling.

I hold one-on-one tutoring sessions with students from elementary to high school. I have even had a parent request some tutoring sessions! My main focus as a tutor is in reading skills (using the Wilson System), ACT Prep (English and Reading, and Spanish. I have also had many sessions for organizational skills, essay writing, Humanities, overall support, etc. Being able to breakdown information in small sessions and helping students to find the tools and methods that work specifically for their individual learning styles has been such a rewarding opportunity.

During my Graduate Assistantship, I taught Beginning Spanish Courses (Spanish I-III) with class sizes of up to 30 students. I developed my own teaching materiales and incorporated interactive elements to engage the students. I regularly collaborated with colleagues for assignment and assessment development. I attended professional development workshops with ACTFL and the UofM to discuss new educational studies and resources to incorporate in the classroom. Previous to my GA, I had never thought to teach Higher Education, but I found that I genuinely loved teaching these classes at the University of Memphis and working with the wonderful Department of World Languages and Literatures.

While working at Academy Sports and Outdoors, my main job was assisting customers with locating merchandise, completing online orders, and purchasing processes. I also answered phones, completed inventory checks, processed new merchandise, and set up merchandise displays regularly. An important factor was collaborating with team members within my department and other departments often for a cohesive environment. This position further elevated my skills with interacting with people, problem-solving, and ogranization.

Following my first study abroad experience, I wanted to encourage other students to look into these opportunities offered by the university. I learned so much valuable information and so many skills during my experiences, and I wanted to share them with others. I met with prospective study abroad students to discuss the programs that would best be suited for their needs and share my own experiences. I promoted CEA through campus-wide study abroad fairs, classroom presentations, and individual meetings. I participated in bi-weekly meetings to develop promotion goals and encourage other team members. Though I no longer partner with CEA, I continue to promote the opportunities with them to my students today.

During the summer, I worked a temporary filing clerk position with Creative Co-Op, processing all the new paper work for shipments and orders. I organized the documents alphabetically, updated existing files, and created new files for clients. Though I worked independently, I was able to meet and know many of the employees from various departments.

During my undergrad, I worked as an academic tutor for the university, providing support to fellow students in a variety of subjects, though I specialized in Spanish and the Humanities. I also provided assistance with organizational, reading, studying, essay writing, test-taking, and note-taking skills to improve efficiency and effectiveness both inside and outside of the classroom. I often collaborated with professors to determine the most effective approaches for their specific fields and course as well as fellow tutors for new methods and tools. This was my first tutoring job, and I really enjoyed being able to breakdown information in a more simple format for people to digest. It allowed me to be creative and adaptive in my forms of thinking about and looking at different materials, which continues to help me as an intructor and an empathic citizen.

While studying abroad in Granada, Spain, I acquired an Assistant Language Teacher Internship with a local bilingual primary education school. I worked with the third grade level students, assisting in English, Science, Art, and Physical Education classes. I developed conversational activities for the students, meeting with them in small groups of five. If there were students who needed additional support in the material, I would meet with them one-on-one and help them find tools or methods that complimented their individual learning style. On trips outside of the school, I helped supervise and guide the children. I also assisted with school projects and performances outside of the classrooms. This internship with Colegio Virgen de Gracia is what ignited my interest in teaching, and I am so thankful.

As a Brand Ambassador, I was often at the store front to greet and assist guests with merchandise questions, online orders, and purchasing process. At the register, I answered phones, handled cash and credit cards purchases, and processed returned or damaged merchandise. I completed regular inventory checks, processed new merchandise, and set up new displays in store. I helped to maintain a clean work environment, checking the floor every thirty minutes and organizing the merchandise. I attended weekly meetings to review weekly and monthly goal achievements and encouraged teammates to accomplish those goals. Overall, it was first place of employment, and the company equipped me with great attention to detail, organizational skills, and confidence in interacting with others.
