He addresses how to create life and resource plans, how to explicitly link financial and estate planning to the life plan, how to estimate lifetime financial support, strategies for funding and managing a special needs trust, how to create the supports to make independent living possible, and how to plan for an individual's continued care after the parents or family members have passed away.On May 20, 2016 he was appointed by the Governor of the State of Colorado to serve on the Colorado Developmental Disabilities Council, one of the Governor's advisory commissions, for a term from July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019. He is the author of a book published in June, 2013 by Jessica Kingsley Publishers, Ltd:"The Complete Guide to Creating a Special Needs Life Plan: a Comprehensive Approach to Integrating Life, Resource, Financial and Legal Planning to Ensure a Brighter Future for a Person with a Disability"(370 pages, paperback, ISBN-10: 1849059144, ISBN-13: 978 1849059145)Hal Wright closed his public practice December 31, 2020 and no longer takes clients.
