About Hamish Davidson

Well known in the recruitment industry and the public sector generally. A frequent speaker and commentator on many topics and a regular writer. Recruitment career commenced with the boutique search firm of Jamieson Scott, followed by a move to Price Waterhouse where successive promotions led to being appointed Partner in charge of the merged UK resourcing arm of Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand - (PwC). Developed the firm’s public sector practice and through that period, became the market leader in senior appointments in local and central government. Post 2002, led the development of both the Veredus and Rockpools brands within the recruitment industry, and in addition took on a range of non-executive & advisory roles as part of a plan to assemble a ‘family’ of ‘kindred spirit’ consultancies. Also maintained a consistent specialist activity in career management, counselling, mentoring, coaching and leadership development of senior executives and non-executives from all sectors as they have sought to develop their individual careers – as well as move across and between sectors. In this regard, became an associate of Nliah (National Leadership & Improvement Agency for Wales) and has been involved in interviewing/assessment/coaching of >200 senior executives impacted by the re-configuration of NHS Wales. To date, the only recruiter/headhunter to be invited to undertake the Cabinet Office Top Manager programme and also the only recruiter/headhunter to date invited to give oral evidence to the House of Common Public Administration Committee – (2003) on Public Appointments processes, and (2009) on Executive Remuneration in Public Services. In December 2009, appointed by the Minister for Local Government to the Local Innovations Advisory Panel (which replaced the Beacon Scheme awards). In Autumn 2008, founded my own professional services/search & selection business operating across private, public and not for profit sectors.Specialties: An international recruiter, trainer, coach, mentor and public speaker with extensive senior management experience and track record of achievement in both private and public sectors.
