As a core member of the AECOM planning team I worked with units of government of varying scales to collaboratively produce NEPA corridor studies, asset and condition surveys, GIS inventories, strategic plans as well as street design plans. Project complexity and size dictated level of leadership and responsibility. Typical duties included:• Applying knowledge of urban planning and specifically transit, bicycle and pedestrian planning to project work using main industry standards (ex: AASHTO, NACTO, FTA circulars, Transportation Cooperative Research Program reports) and data sources (ex: National Transit Database, CTPP).• Analyzing data numerically as well as spatially from a variety of sources (ex: US Census) using programs like Excel and ArcGIS. • Creating visual materials such as maps and infographics for inclusion in the planning process.• Working with stakeholders and the general public to receive inputs and guidance on the planning process. This included developing engagement materials and presenting to audiences.• Tracking project milestones and producing deliverables on a set schedule.• Occasionally supervising interns to assist in planning work.

Se Michigan

This position coincided with the impending vote on enabling legislation for regional transit authorities in Michigan. I researched public outreach best practices to assist the organization in raising awareness about the legislation and managed a database of Michigan legislator information related to regional transit authority vote. I also researched Metropolitan Planning Organization reform. Metro Matters was invited to participate in a number of transportation-related committees and community outreach events. This included R-PATH "Regional Partners Advocating Transit" which was a regional group pushing for RTA enabling legislation. I also attended Woodward Avenue Complete Streets and Woodward Avenue Alternatives Analysis meetings on behalf of the organization. My supervisor and I organized several community meetings about the effects of the I-94 and I-75 widenings on Southeast Michigan communities, in particular Detroit. We presented with partners at community centers near the I-94 widening to ensure local awareness and participation.
