Intern with DHS's Office of Strategy, Policy, and Plans: Law Enforcement Policy [Sponsored by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) from May 2024-July 2024].· Supported administration of the Law Enforcement Coordination Council (LECC), the Department's first coordination body for its law enforcement Components, by drafting meeting notes.· Developed a Decision Memo for the LECC's summer meeting, which focused on the Department's women in law enforcement community. The Memo, to Principals from each Component, will ultimately be considered by the Secretary.· Conducted a policy comparison for two DHS Components, to ensure that identified minimum standards and best practices were aligned across federal departments, on a law enforcement topic, wrote a write-up summarizing the results, and proposed recommendations for Components. · Created a policy index summarizing all of LEP’s/DHS’s law enforcement policies to be included on DHS’s public website, enhancing transparency and public access.· Wrote weekly reports summarizing Law Enforcement Policy’s (LEP) accomplishments, upcoming meetings, and key issues for the Assistant Secretary for Counterterrorism, Threat Prevention, and Law Enforcement Policy.· Wrote weekly outlooks summarizing LEP’s upcoming meetings and issues for DHS’s Office of Strategy, Policy, and Plans.

Act as the key resource for questions, concerns, and advice to and from the new members; responsible for instructing and leading weekly meetings to help them learn about the sorority and its history; coordinate sister dates in preparation for Big/Little pairings; create final matches for Big/Little; plan bid night.

- Researched state human and drug trafficking laws and presented analysis to prosecutor in criminal trial.- Researched legislation decriminalizing personal possession of all Schedule I drugs in Oregon and Portugal, where such declassifications have already occurred, for the Vermont Deputy State’s Attorney in Montpelier to recommend legislation for Vermont.- Attended jury trials, arraignments, and evidence hearings
