I attended the University of Central Florida (2017-2021) earning my Bachelor’s of Science Major degree in Biology and Minor degree in Psychology. My laboratory experience began in 2018 with assisting Emily Karwacki in isolating Perkinsea, chytrid fungus, and ranavirus DNA in ancient amphibian specimens in Dr. Anna Savage’s lab at UCF. From there I became increasingly fascinated with insects at UCF’s Arthropod Museum (commonly the Bug Closet), where Sandor Kelly mentored me on curating insect specimens as well as identification. I have worked and volunteered at the Bug Closet on and off since 2018, and I am currently volunteering and studying/identifying the Hymenopteran superfamily Chalcidoidea. Since graduating UCF in July of 2021, I began my first professional laboratory work at the Institute of Environmental Health (IEH) in October of 2021. In this position I conducted quantitative and qualitative analysis of environmental and food product samples for the food safety industry while maintaining quality control. In 2022, I began my journey with Curaleaf as an Integrated Pest Management Technician and promoted to Lead Technician in 2023. In this current position I scout and identify pests in a greenhouse setting, execute pest management strategies, experiment with new Biological Control Agents and methods, write professional documents, and lead my fellow technicians while on the ground.
