A passion for music, for the creative process behind it, for the people involved, and for the community of bloggers, playlisters, and essentially the fans that surround a song, an EP or an album is exactly why I'm part of this industry.I've taken on various roles since 2013, as a music reviewer, content editor, social media manager, A&R, event management, and PR. In January 2020, I began my role as Head of PR at Latch Media, working alongside a fantastic team to promote the freshest artists and most contemporary sounds within the music industry.

Director Of Music PrColony Pr Jul 2015 - Oct 2017Manchester, United KingdomIn the summer of 2015, I established my own music publicity company with the simple aim of educating myself and gaining new experience with the music industry's PR sector. With little experience and few opportunities in Manchester, I was determined to carve my own path by working closely and passionately with artists whose music I genuinely loved. As the company's apidae aesthetic would suggest, Colony PR's ethos was built on that of the attitude of the cooperative worker bee, also a symbol of my home city Manchester. By working closely with all my clients, the tailor-made digital media campaigns for singles, EPs and albums are aligned to the goals of the artist/band/their representative, to ensure to best results for each release.Since Colony PR's inception, I have had the pleasure to work with artists Nerve Leak, Lex Low, Xander Ghost, Alex Sloane, Druzy, Katy Cunningham, Druzy, Mere Child, ACTRESE, Pola Rise, Zoey Lily, Richard Walters, Louis Baker, Autumn Chorus, Me For Queen, San Felu, Failr, Glints and MICKY. In addition to this, we’ve also collaborated closely with organisations like Mere Child Music, Factory Flaws, Aston Rd., Gener8 Ventures, Gold + Grey, and Pilot Light.https://soundcloud.com/colonyprhttps://www.facebook.com/colonypr/https://twitter.com/colony_pr

Over the months, I contacted local businesses to donate whatever they could to our cause, whether it was vouchers, prizes, useful skills, their spaces for events etc. The most notable donations in 2016 were 100 canvas bags to be branded with the Oxjam Manchester logo and sold to raise money for Oxfam and our very own festival beer to be sold across our venues with proceeds going directly to the charity. My other roles for the festival included PR Assistant, Fundraiser and Venue Manager.By the end of our three-day festival in Chorlton, we raised £3,000 for Oxfam.

A&RIamsound Oct 2013 - Nov 2015As the UK-based A&R for the Los Angeles record label IAMSOUND, my job was to look out for, actively seek and make initial contact with artist/bands that would be a suitable signing for the record label. Each month, I would create a report with all my recommendations for the label to consider. This job really tapped into my love of new music, be it obscure or with more commercial potential. -
New Music EditorUnrecorded Sep 2013 - Jan 2015Shortly after creating my own music blog on Tumblr, I was invited by the then current New Music Writer to join the Unrecorded team as a writer. During my time at the US-based international music publication, I reviewed singles, EPs, albums and live shows. In my last year at Unrecorded, I was promoted to the position of New Music Editor, where I had to review each post before publication and had final say on the content written by a team of ten writers. Due to various time zones of the publications (running of EST) and a worldwide base of writers, I had to be extremely organized and consistent in my editorial duties. Most recently, I was invited back to write a guest review of one single and one album, along with all the other alumni, to celebrate ten years of Unrecorded and close the highly influential music site. -
Music Marketing InternBlinkbox Music Jun 2014 - Oct 2014London, United KingdomAs the music streaming service created for Tesco's tablet Huddl, blinbox Music provided a unique opportunity to learn about how a streaming app functions behind the scenes. After an initial one month internship, a new role was created especially for me to act as a bridge between the Music and the Marketing departments. As you'd imagine, there were plenty of tasks I had to handle, which included co-managing their social media, advising on the look and content of their website, writing the majority of the website's content, creating playlists for blinbox's users and coming up with new marketing ideas for the app.I think the highest testament of my success as a Music Marketing Intern, was during my time at blinkbox I was also given the responsibility of mentoring two fellow interns. I would introduce them to the system and provide them with daily tasks to complete. It was a highly educational experience and one that helped me realise my own strengths and areas for improvement after finishing my internship.
