I have been supporting teens professionally for over fifteen years, in a variety of contexts and capacities – as youth coach, English teacher, learning support advisor, mindfulness teacher and tutor. Through my work I have become increasingly interested in the deep and complex intersections between psychology and education and am currently studying towards a Master of Science in Psychology of Education (BPS) at The University of Bristol.I'm primarily concerned with the development of the brain, within the domain of socioemotional growth in particular, during the adolescent developmental period. Drawing upon the latest research in interpersonal neurobiology, neuroplasticity, and positive psychology approaches to enhancement of mental health and wellbeing, I'm is passionate about exploring the multifaceted ways in which psychology can better inform future education policy making and curriculum design and practice; ultimately so I can better meet the needs of young people as they experience their uniquely challenging biopsychosocial changes.As an experienced educator, who has come to recognise the growing importance of prioritising intrapersonal, interpersonal and cognitive learning, I am committed to understanding how psychology theory, methods and approaches can help me focus better on turning what is often seen as a challenging and tumultuous developmental period into one of the most rewarding periods of change and experimentation.As a professional coach and educator, I rely on my empathic skills, a non-judgemental approach and genuine sense of curiosity and humour to meet clients where they are, while ensuring the coaching process is enjoyable and productive. I understand the adolescent need to be seen, heard, respected and celebrated as I supports their pursuit of autonomy and happiness, an the realisation of self-efficacy and resilience.I understand that life is a story about love, human connections and their ripple effects. I am passionate about supporting my clients and students towards building deeper and healthier relationships with themselves and those closest to them so that they can connect and serve their community and the planet with success, meaning and integrity. I strive to support the young people I serve as they become a master of their inner and outer worlds, so they can feel self-love, wholeness and create the life they really want.
